Sale Report for Northern Ireland ZSA Sale on August 24, 2019
On Saturday 24th August 2019, the Northern Ireland ZSA annual show and sale took place at Richard Beattie’s Farm, Gortin, Country Tyrone. This new venue proved very successful. Zwartbles females were much sought after with only two failing to find a new home and selling to a top price of 760 gns.
Rams however, were slow to clear with only 5 sold.
The pre-sale show was judged by Mr Ally Baird from Dunblane. Scotland, owner of the renowned Greystone flock. Ally chose a ewe lamb from the Hillview flock of M and D Cashel as his Supreme Champion. The champion was later sold to Southern Ireland member Denise Rafferty for 760 gns. Denise also purchased the 4th placed ewe lamb from the Fort flock for 350 gns.
The reserve champion was a shearling ram from the Fort flock of C and D Cromie, later selling for 370 gns.
The second highest price of the day was for another ewe lamb from the Hillview flock. This ewe lamb sold for 600gns and joins the Kinedale flock of Mr Brian Malcomson.
Average prices for sheep sold as follows:-
Senior ram (1) 200gns.
Shearling ram (1) 370gns.
Ram lambs (3) 173gns.
Flock ewes (3) 95gns.
Shearling ewes (6) 217gns.
Ewe lambs (36) 227gns
