Carlisle Premier Sale Report 
A top price of 4200gns was achieved at the Zwartbles Premier show and sale at Carlisle. Despite Blue Tongue the original Carlisle format was able to go ahead.
Sale leader was Colin & Helen Duffy’s ram lamb, Smiddy Hill Peter, out of a homebred ewe, and by Greystone Grouse. He sold for 4200gns to Lancashire breeder, Laura Simpson buying for her Millacre flock.
1st Prize in the Ram Lamb class, later going on to get reserve male champion and overall reserve male champion was Carlea Phoenix from Carys Powell. He had the second highest price paid of 3200gns and was purchased by Messrs Brown of the Stainmore flock. Out of Brookdene Kiss and by Cernyw Nedw.
Selling to 2600gns was Hope View Poseidon who was out of Norton Jill and by Danygraig Legend, a fantastic achievement for Carl Kisby and Kathryn Hopkins for their first time selling at the Premier Sale.
Overall Champion was Raddery Nacho a shearling ram from the Raddery flock, bred by Miss A Etheridge. Out of a homebred ewe and by Conic Lieutenant. Nacho sold at 1800gns to Mrs Allison Metcalf from the Thirnbank flock based in Ingleton, Darlington.
With many more males selling to well over 1000gns and several over the 1500gns it was a great sale for sellers.
Females topped at 1800gns (200gns more than last years top female price) by the 2nd prize Shearling ewe Greystone No Limits, sold by Messrs McLaren & Baird and purchased by Messrs Dow from Castle Douglas.
Hayberries Nina was 1st prize shearling gimmer and female champion in the pre-sale show and sold for 1600gns. Out of Hayberries Karat and by Hayberries Keystone, this fully homebred shearling moves up to Lanark with her new owner A Lorimer after already passing the compulsory PCR test for bluetongue to ensure they could transport her to Scotland on the day.
Top price ewe lamb on the day was Thirnbank Porsche who reached 1500gns and also achieved 2nd place in the pre sale show.
Despite 49 sheep not forward on the day, it proved to be a very successful sale with some fantastic sheep away to their new homes and only a handful unsold on the day
